Findon Vale School News March 2019

At the end of January, a group of Year 4 and 5 children from Vale School had the amazing experience of singing at the O2 Arena in the largest children’s choir in the World – Young Voices! The children had been practising their singing and dancing since September and all their hard work culminated in a spectacular show, starring 7,776 children from all over the South of England.

The children spent the day at the O2 Arena rehearsing their dance moves and singing through all their songs. Many of the dance moves and routines learnt were based on British Sign Language, making it a truly inclusive event.

At 6pm the children’s families and friends started to arrive and we all excitedly began to scour the audience. We were extremely lucky to have the best seats in the house – right behind the band, with our friends and families also having front row seats! This made spotting them in the huge crowd much easier.

The children performed a broad selection of songs from a range of genres, alongside Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet), Sharlene Hector (Basement Jaxx) and Beau Dermott (Britain’s Got Talent) as well as dance troupe Urban Strides.

Memories of the performance will stay with the children (and their teachers and families) for many years to come. It was definitely an event to remember! www.vale.w-sussex.sch.uk
