5 miles away from Chichester lies this civil parish and village. The population is around 3,000. Barnham railway station is situated here, meaning there is good means of public transport links.

John Ireland, the famous composer, often stayed in Eastergate, and even named a hymn tune after it.

Key Landmarks of Eastergate

Roman remains were found near St Georges Church, even though before the 20th century, Eastergate was a small village. The area was mainly used as a market town. But since then a large increase in residential housing being built has caused an increase in population.

The village lies near to Fontwell, meaning Fontwell Racecourse is close by, and hosts many fun events including a fun Bonfire Night celebration, and fun racing days.

Chichester is also a short while away from the village, which is famous for it’s gorgeous cathedral. There are also plenty of shops there to explore, and museums to visit.
