Boundary Commission survey revised proposal
Horsham District residents have a final chance to help reshape the constituency map as the Boundary Commission for England launches its final consultation on new revised proposals for constituencies.
The Local Government Boundary Commission for England is proposing new constituency boundaries, including for the Horsham District. The Commission have published revised boundaries following an initial consultation in early 2022.
There is now a further period of consultation underway, should residents wish to make any further comments. This final consultation closes on 5th December 2022.
In essence the proposal for the District is that the Horsham Parliamentary constituency stays mainly the same. The initial proposal for the south of the District to form part of the Shoreham constituency has now been amended.
The revised proposal is that the south of the District forms part of the Arundel and South Downs constituency, which also includes parts of the Chichester District Council and Arun District Council areas.

2023 Boundary Review
The Commission is undertaking an independent review of all constituencies in England as requested by Parliament. The number of electors within each constituency currently varies widely due to population changes since the last boundary review.
The 2023 Boundary Review will rebalance the number of electors each MP represents, resulting in significant change to the existing constituency map. As part of the review, the number of constituencies in England will increase from 533 to 543.
How to respond to the consultation
After this final consultation closes on 5th December, the Commission will analyse the responses and form its final recommendations. These will be submitted to Parliament by 1st July 2023.
