Assistive Technology: Event for people with learning disabilities and their carers

A free event showcasing the benefits of assistive technology for people with learning disabilities is being held in Chichester later this month.

The event is aimed at people with learning disabilities and their carers and will show how technology can support them in their everyday lives.

Being held at Chichester College, Westgate Fields, PO19 1SB on May 30, the event is being run in partnership with the Learning Disability Partnership Board, Chichester College, West Sussex Telecare Service and Telecare Service Provider WELbeing. It is being run with a drop-in format so residents can attend any time from 2pm to 7pm to learn more about technology available to assist with independent living and travel.

On the day there will be demonstrations from people with learning difficulties who are already benefitting from using technology  in their daily lives.

Amanda Jupp, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Adults and Health said: “I’m really delighted that we are part of  this important event and it highlights a really important issue for some of our residents.

“At times we can take our independence for granted but for those who need additional help, technology is becoming one of the best ways to enable people to live full and independent lives.”

The event is being run by West Sussex Wellbeing, Chichester College, West Sussex Telecare Service and the Learning Disability Partnership Board.
