Sussex pupils present cheque to Mayor of Lewes

Lewes Old Grammar School (LOGS) pupils have continued their ongoing charity efforts by donating £400 to the Mayor of Lewes’ chosen charities.

Head prefect Sasha Budnick Grantham presented Mayor Michael Chartier with a cheque last week, which students raised by staging a non-uniform day.

The donation will go towards two local charities: the Talking Newspaper Association and the Friends of Lewes Victoria Hospital.

Operating in Lewes and the surrounding area, the Talking Newspaper Association provides tapes of local news for the visually impaired. The Friends of Lewes Victoria Hospital, meanwhile, fund projects to improve equipment and facilities for patients.

“As the Mayor’s term comes to an end, we were delighted to boost his fundraising campaign,” said Tim Laker, Bursar. “A non-uniform day is a simple way of raising money but always reminds us how fortunate we are.

“There are many worthy charities across the country but it’s important for us as a school to be a part of, and offer our support to, the local community.”
