After the success of the first concert featuring UK leading tenor Nick Pritchard in February, Burgess Hill Concerts has announced its second concert in the quarterly series. This time it is part of the Burgess Hill Festival.
Well-known local entrepreneur and part time professional soprano Susan Fleet has led large choirs, numerous large scale charity events, solo concerts and with her own Lea Graham Quartet. She founded the highly regarded Cantemus choir and has appeared as leading soprano in every Gilbert & Sullivan Opera, numerous musicals and Opera. Over the past four decades Burgess Hill born Susan has raised thousands of pounds for charity through musical events. In 2017 Susan recorded a CD of jazz with renowned jazz singer and BBC radio presenter Claire Martin. All the proceeds from the recording have been donated to The Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity. This concert will support the Cuckfield-based charity that supports families with children under five with cerebral palsy and other motor learning difficulties.
Susan Fleet started singing at school and has since enjoyed a career that encompasses professional singing, founding Lea Graham Associates, one of the oldest PR agencies in Sussex along with a highly respected entertainments agency. She is Chair of the Burgess Hill Business Parks Association and a close friend and PA to Dame Vera Lynn who recently celebrated her 102nd birthday. Susan will be singing a selection of favourite songs from her opera, classical, jazz and musical repertoires
The last concert in February featuring the highly regarded tenor star Nick Pritchard raised nearly £1000 for the Church’s work in the community and in support of the Burgess Hill-based charity, Growing with Calm selected by the singer.
On Saturday 1st June, as part of the opening day of the Burgess Hill Festival, St Edward’s Mustard Seed Café will be open at 6.30 for pre-booked suppers and for coffee, tea and cake during the interval. Doors for the concert will open at 7.00pm and the concert will start at 7.30pm – with an interval at 8.15pm.
There is a seating limit of 120 for this concert and 10% of ticket proceeds will be donated to Susan Fleet’s chosen local charity – The Dame Vera Lynn’s Children’s Charity that helps under 5s with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments to realise their full potential.
