Henry Smith MP has welcomed over £6 million of funding to improve the condition of roads in West Sussex.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP, announced at the recent Budget that a £420 million fund will be created to tackle potholes and other roadworks.
Henry said; “I’m pleased that West Sussex will be receiving a funding boost of more than £6 million to improve roads over the coming winter months helping Crawley cyclists and motorists.
“This additional new funding represents a significant boost in road maintenance and is on top of £950 million already being provided to councils this year for local highways maintenance.”
West Sussex County Council will receive £6.083 million to repair potholes, keep local bridges and structures open and safe, and help with other highways works that may be needed.
At the Budget the Chancellor also announced the biggest ever single cash injection to improve England’s roads, meaning that people can get to and from home and work quicker, boosting the local economy and improving air quality.
