Care for your trees during lockdown

Ashwood Tree Surgery

There are some areas of gardening which are better left to an expert and tree felling and pruning fall firmly into this category.

Stephen Pickett of Ashwood Tree Surgery is based in Ford, near Arundel. Stephen is fully insured and will look at jobs across West Sussex. Stephen told us, “Even in ‘normal’ times people need to stay well away from a tree surgeon at work!” He continued, “tree work and stump grinding are continuing fairly normally during this lockdown, I talk to clients through closed windows or by mobile as they explain the work required so social distancing is maintained”.

Before making recommendations, a qualified tree surgeon will consider the health of the tree and what is best for it. This is balanced with its situation and general safety. Most tree surgeons attempt to recycle and convert any waste into useful products. To be certain that your work is carried out to the highest possible professional standards you should check that your arborist is NPTC qualified (National Proficiency Tests Council) and either academically or professionally trained or both. You should also ensure that they have adequate public liability insurance and are fully conversant with health and safety procedures and current legislation.

Ashwood Tree Surgery can carry out fencing, stump removal, hedge trimming, crown reduction/raising and landscaping. They can also help with larger landscaping projects which may require a mini digger. All their green waste is recycled either at a registered green waste disposal site or at their own wood yard, from where they also supply firewood logs.

Other areas of work include rustic trellises, planters, raised beds and woven hazel hurdle fencing.
