Haywards Heath Platinum Jubilee celebrations

In celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the Haywards Heath Mayor was delighted to join members of nursing homes, the Haywards Heath Horticultural Society, girl guides, cubs, schools, charities, businesses and residents as they began hanging the beautiful red, white and blue Platinum Jubilee baskets at the Orchards Shopping Centre.

Town Mayor, Cllr Howard Mundin, said: “Margaret and I were delighted to hang the first basket as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations for our Town. What a marvellous community tribute to make on this momentous occasion and I hope everyone will visit and see the stunning patriotic display.

“We have wonderful events planned to mark this special event in our history in Haywards Heath and I look forward to seeing many of you over this long Jubilee weekend. Thursday, 2nd June join us for the lighting of the Queen’s Beacon, from 9pm in Victoria Park and I then look forward to seeing you on 4th June, when I open the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee day at the Orchards Centre, from 10am to 6pm.

“Finally, I invite you all to finish off your Jubilee celebrations at our Open-Air Picnic style event in Victoria Park on Sunday 5th June, where we will have a full programme of fun entertainment available for all the family. Pack up your family, friends, picnics & blankets and sit back and enjoy the Jubilee fun in the park!

“I would like to say a huge thank you to all the 33 nursing homes, schools, businesses, residents, groups and charities that all made, cared for and brought their red, white and blue Jubilee baskets to hang in the centre, and to the amazing Sylvia Harris from the Haywards Heath Horticultural Society, who worked so tremendously hard on this wonderful community project for our Town.

“I look forward to celebrating a wonderful Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend with you all.”
