Adur and Worthing Councils Mayor, Councillor Hazel Thorpe will be rallying the runners at the start of this year’s Turning Tides Go the Distance on Sunday 22 September.

She will be sending scores of runners on their way including Youth Mayor Jimi Taylor and Deputy Youth Mayor Will Nyss who are taking part for a second year. They are keen to get others to grab their trainers and support this invaluable charity which believes everyone has a right to a home regardless of the difficulties and issues they may face in their lives.

Jimi comments: ‘The first Turning Tides Charity Run was amazing, so I’m hoping this year will be even better! And all donations are highly appreciated’.

Together with over a 100 fundraisers last year they helped raise over £5,000 and it is hoped to smash this target this year! This significant fundraising effort has helped support some of the most vulnerable men and women in our local community. Without this kind of support Turning Tides could not continue our work helping to build the lives of the homeless and insecurely housed people in our community

Turning Tides work tirelessly within Worthing, Littlehampton, Shoreham, Horsham, East Grinstead and Mid Sussex communities. The support they get from the community is vitally important to the charity as they heavily rely on donations. With cuts to funding of £40,000 from West Sussex County Council from 1 October, this dependence is even greater and it is ever more important.
