Three budding artists design Eastbourne Mayor’s Christmas card

Eastbourne Mayor Councillor Gill Mattock has the town’s official Christmas card wrapped up early thanks to three budding young artists.

Megan Lilley, 12, Nell McLachlan, 11, and Marianne Edwards, 6, designed the winning entries for three different age categories in a competition to come up with a design for the town’s festive card. All three designs have been professionally printed and turned into cards that the Mayor will send out to around 200 people. The three winners were presented with their designs by the Mayor while having tea in the Mayor’s Parlour at the Town Hall.

The Mayor said: “All entries for the competition were a very high standard so my judging panel had a tough job choosing the winners. Megan, Nell and Marianne produced really original designs and I’m delighted to be able to share them with everyone for this year’s Christmas card. Well done to everyone who took part!”

The panel also decided to award some entries a “Highly Commended” and these were displayed at the Town Hall as part of the Society of Eastbourne Artists Exhibition weekend alongside the winning entries.
