Prestigious accolade marks milestone for South Downs establishment
TERRA Restaurant has been awarded its first AA Rosette following an inspection by a nationally recognised AA Inspector recently. The prestigious accolade comes as a significant milestone for the South Downs establishment.
Team leadership celebrates achievement
Helen Pomery, Director of TERRA Restaurant, expressed her pride in the team’s achievement. “This recognition is the result of four years of really pushing our team to be the best they can be and receiving this long awaited accolade is the biggest reward for them. Ultimately our guest feedback drives us forward every day and helps push us even further in our mission to receive our next Rosette, our journey has only just begun,” she said.
Executive Head Chef Chris Hilton shared similar sentiments, saying, “I’m over the moon and so proud to have been part of the journey that Tottington Manor and TERRA Restaurant has been on so far and I continue to be very excited about what the future holds, there is more to come.”
Sustainability recognition
The AA Rosette announcement arrived just a week before another significant honour for the restaurant. Restaurants Brighton, organisers of the highly regarded local hospitality equivalent of the Oscars, awarded TERRA its first BRAVO Award for Most Sustainable Restaurant. Despite facing strong competition, the restaurant’s commitment to sustainable hospitality has been a primary focus since its inception.
Commitment to local sourcing & sustainability
The establishment has prioritised eliminating fossil fuels, reducing waste, and sourcing locally, with 90% of their food menu featuring Sussex ingredients and 25% of their Drinks & Wine List showcasing local offerings. This approach not only supports the local economy but, as Helen says, “it feels like the right thing to do”.
Plethora of award nominations & achievements
Building on their achievements, TERRA was nominated in five BRAVO categories in 2025: Best Sussex Restaurant, Best Team, Best Wine List, Best Sunday Roast, and Most Sustainable. The restaurant secured Top 10 positions in four categories and placed in the Top 20 for all five nominations out of thousands of contenders. Their most notable achievements included winning Most Sustainable Restaurant and placing second for Best Sussex Restaurant.
