A Festival with Purpose

Organised by the award-winning climate charity Sussex Green Living, the Plant to Plate Festival is more than a celebration—it’s a call to action. At the intersection of food, climate, and community, the festival empowers local people to think globally and act locally by rethinking what’s on their plate—for their health and the planet.

With the climate and biodiversity crises threatening food security, human health and prosperity in the UK and across the globe, this event showcases practical, inspiring solutions that support quality lifestyles and environmental resilience.

From real, local, ecofriendly and tasty food to strategies for boosting biodiversity and protecting pollinators, the festival highlights the essential role food plays in creating a sustainable future.

Nick Nuttall said: “All the hard evidence indicates that moving to eco-friendly, sustainable communities and countries is the best way to build healthy economies, jobs and a stable environment capable of supporting current and future generations”. Food and agriculture are at the centre of this and so I applaud Sussex Green Living for making it their focus while joining hands with the millions of other people around the world marking Earth Day,” he added.

Highlights Include:

  • Opening speeches from Nick Nuttall and John Milne MP at 9.45am
  • 12 expert-led talks and demos on sustainable food and climate solutions
  • Live environmental music, stalls, displays, and community showcases
  • A full programme of interactive children’s activities
