Unique collaborative artworks celebrate creativity, inclusion and community
Oxmarket Contemporary, a registered charity that brings artists and the public together in the heart of Chichester, has teamed up with another local registered charity, the Apuldram Centre, to spread a little extra love in this Valentine’s Day.
Through a special creative collaboration celebrating community, craft and connection the Oxmarket’s onsite shop is selling unique artwork celebrating love. Created by users of the Apuldram Centre especially for Valentine’s Day, the pieces are available to view and purchase in the Oxmarket Contemporary shop in the heart of the city. The pieces offer a meaningful, locally made alternative to traditional Valentine’s gifts, while supporting two important local charities.
Creating opportunities & collaboration
The Apuldram Centre is a registered charity based in Chichester, West Sussex, supporting adults through creative, therapeutic and community-based activities. Working directly with Apuldram Centre users, the collaboration highlights the power of creativity to build confidence, connection and a sense of belonging.
The Valentine’s artwork forms part of Oxmarket Contemporary’s wider work with local charities and community organisations, using art as a way to create inclusive opportunities and celebrate collaboration. The gallery is delighted to have these particular pieces available in time for Valentine’s Day.
“Working with Apuldram Centre and its users on this artwork has been incredibly rewarding,” said Jo Shapiro, Gallery Manager at Oxmarket Contemporary. “We’re collaborating with a number of local charities this year, but it’s especially lovely to have this piece ready for Valentine’s Day and available in our shop. It’s a reminder that love comes in many forms – creativity, community and care for one another.”
As well as being able to pay the artists for their work, any additional profits from sales will support Oxmarket Contemporary’s charitable activities, helping the gallery continue to provide free access to exhibitions, support local artists, and deliver community and schools programmes across Chichester.
The Valentine’s collaboration will be on display at Oxmarket Contemporary throughout February until it is snapped up, giving visitors the chance to discover a heartfelt gift that supports local charities and the people behind them.
