Henry Smith, MP for Crawley visited KPMG last week to meet with staff and apprentices at the firm’s newly refurbished Forest Green offices.
As a big supporter of the value and importance of apprenticeships, the MP was joined by some of KPMG’s apprentices for lunch and to talk about their experience of KPMG’s apprenticeship programme. Mr Smith was joined by audit manager Sammy Bunn who joined the firm as a school leaver and current apprentices Sukaina Budhwani, Jack Grant, Adam Kerwood and Hayden Taylor.
KPMG Managing Director, Tim Rush who heads up the firm’s practice in Crawley, showed Mr Smith around the newly refurbished floors of the building which KPMG has been based at since the 1990s. KPMG has recently signed a long-term lease at the Brighton Road offices where more than 120 staff are based and the refurbishment started in the summer.
Commenting on the visit, Tim Rush, said:
“We were delighted that Henry Smith MP was able to visit the office and to meet with our staff and our apprentices. Attracting talented people to our business is a key part of our growth strategy and last year we saw a record number of graduates and apprentices start their careers with us here in Crawley.
“We see huge opportunities in this region, our pipeline of work is strong and our new lease signing on this building signifies our commitment to our local market. Seeing the transformation of the office over the past few months has been really exciting for all of us. More than a facelift, our landlords have created a beautiful, innovative new space that reflects the dynamic, collaborative culture we want to cultivate across all of our offices.”
Henry Smith, MP added :
“It was a pleasure to visit KPMG today and to meet staff from across different teams and at all levels. KPMG is a large employer in Crawley, and I welcome the investment they are putting in to the Gatwick office and the support they give to our community. I enjoyed meeting some of KPMG’s apprentices in the office and hearing about their experiences earning and learning.
“Providing more opportunities for young people to help them to start interesting, skilled and rewarding careers is vital to keep our local economy buoyant. It’s fantastic to see businesses like KPMG investing in people to recognise the benefits of apprenticeships for everyone.”
KPMG has been part of the business community in Sussex for over 35 years. The offices at Forest Green are home to more than 120 client-facing staff who work with businesses across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
