Championing the local town – Midhurst Christmas

In 2023, Midhurst, suffered a catastrophic loss when the Angel Inn, a prominent hotel on the high street burned down. The fire not only destroyed a business but also severely damaged the town’s footfall and local businesses as a result.

In December 2024, a local business, Scafell Media, created a short promotion for the town, in which 15-20 local businesses played a part in featuring and reading out the classic ‘a visit from saint Nick’ poem. This video took off and surpassed more than 20,000 views in under 48 hours, being circulated and promoted on social media by an overwhelming number of locals. At its core, this video promoted ‘shopping local at Christmas’. You can watch the 2024 film HERE.

This year, with local businesses still struggling, the team at Scafell Media wanted to do it again, only this time, with more planning, higher production value and a lot more help. Unfortunately, despite last year’s success, the local council was reluctant to provide any funding, so they put their own money into the project, pulling favours with the ‘regular London crew and friends’, all of whom generously gave their time and experience for free.

A local family (Nick, Sarah & Isabella) also very kindly volunteered to feature in the film and let the team film in their beautiful home. A testament to the local spirit that fueled last year’s film.

Across two days of filming with some amazing people, Scafell Media captured a film that champions the importance of shopping local this Christmas. The video is available to watch online here
