Bosham car park as a key site for visitors
Leading councillors at Chichester District Council have agreed to invest £20,000 in assisting with identifying options for Bosham car park that will both improve the welcome to visitors and enhance links with the village.
The site, which is owned by Chichester District Council, currently offers parking spaces, public conveniences, and boat storage.
As one of the key locations that visitors use when visiting Bosham, the project will look at how the car park can be made more welcoming and user friendly, as well as enhancing links to the village.
Refurbishment of the public conveniences in Bosham car park is being considered as part of a separate phased programme of improvements to a number of public conveniences sites in the district and will be separate to any potential works to the car park.
Chichester District Council on improving Bosham car park
Cllr Tony Dignum, Cabinet Member for Growth, Place & Regeneration at Chichester District Council says:
“Bosham is one of the many beautiful locations that people love to visit within the district, and it is important that we welcome visitors by providing visually attractive public areas that will leave them with a positive lasting impression. Making improvements to the public car park is also one of the actions identified by local residents through the Bosham Parish Neighbourhood Plan”
“This project provides us with an opportunity to look at the design and layout of the area, to make best use of the land and make it more welcoming. This will include looking at improved planting schemes; the location of Blue Badge parking to make it easier for disabled users to access the village; improved signage, and community safety measures.”
