Behind every closed door, there’s a story – and some of them come with bleach.
Tales From Under the Kitchen Sink lifts the lid on the unseen world of domestic cleaning, from the spotless to the chaotic, the untidy and the unmanageable. Drawing on years of running a cleaning business, T.K Robinson shares the funny, shocking and surprisingly touching stories that unfold while scrubbing and polishing.
From difficult clients and awkward encounters to moments of quiet humanity, this is a sharp and witty, heartfelt look at the work that keeps homes – and lives – in order. Honest, relatable and laugh out loud in places, this book is for anyone who’s ever cleaned up someone else’s mess.
T.K Robinson’s stories celebrate the resilience and the humour hidden in domestic cleaning. She is based in West Sussex.
She explains: “I just had to write this! Most people never see the private world behind people’s doors. I’ve seen wealth, chaos, cruelty, and the absurd, all through the lens of a mop and bucket. It isn’t just a cleaning memoir; it’s a story about people and what happens in their homes. I wanted to show the humour in cleaning, the disgusting houses as well as the spotless mansions. After saying that I could write a whole book about my experience as a house cleaner, and finally, I did.”
