A Billingshurst nursery has received a £1,000 donation from a local housebuilder to help it expand its services.
Bellway, which is building at the Amblehurst Green development off East Street, has gifted the money to Wakoos Centre 4 Children, located just a mile away on Station Road.
The donation will enable the nursery to expand and meet the growing demand from families moving to the development.
Wakoos Centre 4 Children has been in Billingshurst for over 30 years, providing nursery care for young children and more recently, breakfast, after school and holiday clubs for primary school children. In 2006, the charity opened its second site in Petworth and now both nurseries provide childcare for nearly 300 families in the local area.

Jade Orosz, Nursery Manager at Wakoos Centre 4 Children, said: “Wakoos is a not-for-profit organisation so any money we make goes straight back into the nursery and we rely on donations and support from the local community to keep running our services.
“This generous donation from Bellway means that even more children and families in the local area will be able to benefit from the services that we provide.”

“The creation of the Amblehurst Green development means there will be a growing number of families looking to find nursery places for their children in the town and our donation will enable this demand to be met.
“Bellway alone is building over 150 homes at our Amblehurst Green and The Courtyard at Amblehurst Green developments, so it is likely that many of our own residents will use the services that Wakoos provides.”

Amblehurst Green has provided a range of two to five-bedroom homes for the local area, with just seven four-bedroom detached houses remaining for sale, and prices starting from £504,995.
Meanwhile, The Courtyard comprises a mix of just 18 three, four and five-bedroom houses, with just seven properties remaining for sale, and prices starting from £457,495.
