Start time: 15:00 A concert of music inspired by the sea, with the WPO and acclaimed guitar soloist, Paul Gregory Join the internationally-acclaimed guitarist Paul Gregory and the WPO on Sunday 22nd March for a sea-themed adventutre! Programme: Debussy: La Mer Paul Gregory, Guitar Soloist Debussy’s evocative seascape ‘La Mer’ is performed for the first time ever by WPO. The orchestra also continues its cycle of the Sibelius symphonies with his Symphony No. 5, the last movement of which famously presents a theme inspired by a flock of swans in flight. At the centre of the programme is the ‘Blue Wave Concerto’ by local composer, Chaz Hart. The concerto was finished in 2020 and inspired by his trips to Key West, Sierra Nevada, and the Grand Canyon — “Many of the inspirations came from standing on the aft deck watching the incandescence of the blue wave created by the ship as it sailed majestically across the ocean.” The WPO is Worthing’s resident full-sized orchestra — high-quality music making since 1948.
