Lead by Kerry Van Der Schraft (artist and Art Teacher) – Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Modernism

Event Information

The Art Nouveau period occurred between 1890 to 1914 .We will study the origins of the movement, the social changes which influenced the movement and the main people and artists such as Gustav Klimt and explore the work of Tiffany his design and manufacturing methods.

We will then cover the work of Alphonse Mucha and A Goudi and Aubrey Beardsley, as well as Charles Macintosh and Rene Lalique. Modernism became initially prevalent following WW1 and we will look initially at the first stage of Modernism and its links to the Art Deco movement.

We then look at the post war era and in particular its influences on Fine Art, Abstract Expressionism and Abstract Expressionist artists of the time.
