Start time: 10:00 Come and Rehearse and Sing Brahms Requiem under the direction of Peter Allwood and the Chantry Quire What inspired Brahms to write one of the best-known and most glorious Requiems while still in his 20s? It is probable that the lingering sadness at the loss of his great friend and mentor Robert Schumann caused him to start, whilst the death of his mother determined him to complete this spiritual work when he was still a very young man. It has remained an uplifting choral favourite ever since. Now you can join with the Chantry Quire and their Musical Director Peter Allwood, to sing this inspirational masterpiece in the original German. Peter will lead us in rehearsing the entire work, culminating in a complete performance with professional soloists and organ accompaniment. With wide-ranging experience as a music teacher and head teacher, Peter Allwood is now a freelance conductor, composer, musical director and choral workshop leader. Along with members of the Chantry Quire, he will take you through the Requiem and give you some interesting and informative insights into this Adult: 20 Child: Child Age Limit: Concession Details: Name: Chantry Quire Email: webmaster@chantryquire.org.uk Website:
