Start time: 19:30 Autumn Concert of the Fernhurst Choral Society on Saturday 19 November This concert is a change from their usual classical offerings. The programme begins with jazzy arrangements by John Rutter of spirituals such as ‘Steal Away’ and ‘Deep River’. The next item is ‘Songs and Sonnets of Shakespeare’ – a group of seven folk songs written by the bard and set to music by jazz pianist George Shearing OBE. The choir will also sing a few ‘Songs from the American Songbook’. The concert, which starts at 7.30pm, will be accompanied by a small jazz ensemble.
