Event Information

Nicola Garrard in Chichester Library

Chichester Library in Tower Street hosts Nicola Garrard as part of the Festival of Chichester programme on Friday 24th June.

As part of the Festival of Chichester, join teacher and author, Nicola Garrard, to discuss the challenges facing young people. Includes readings from 29 LOCKS, a story of one teenager’s heroic fight against the criminal forces that threaten his mum, friends, and community.

This coming-of-age novel was inspired by Nicola’s fifteen years of teaching teenage boys at a comprehensive school in inner-city London and the book tackles issues of racial injustice, child poverty, gang violence and knife crime.

The novel is dedicated to the memory of her former student, Mahad Ali, who was brutally murdered in 2017 at the age of 18.

There will be the opportunity to ask questions about the issues or publishing and the chance to buy signed copies of 29 LOCKS.
