Start time: 19:30 An atmospheric programme of contemporary choral music inspired by winter. Join us for a concert celebrating winter through music by some of today’s leading choral composers. We will perform Sarah Quartel’s A Winter Day, a beautiful five-movement work inspired by the changing moods of a Canadian winter, and Cecilia McDowall’s A Winter’s Night, a cantata woven around familiar carols. The programme will also include Eric Whitacre’s Sleep. We are very pleased to be joined by the wonderful cellist Sarah Davison, who will accompany us in A Winter Day and perform two solo pieces. This will be a particularly special concert for WCS, as it will be Aedan’s final concert as our Musical Director before he retires at Christmas, after 17 years with the choir. It is especially fitting that the programme will include one of his own compositions, A Heart Made Full.
