The Regis Centre, Bognor Regis, 2 O’Clock Club presents ‘The Selsey Shantymen’. ‘Sea Shanties’ and ‘work Songs’ supplemented with the occasional song of their own. Selsey is a community with strong seafaring links going back many generations. The local fishing fleet has operated from the beaches for centuries and, in the 18th century, smuggling was widespread and extremely profitable. As a group, the Selsey Shantymen have stong links to the Selsey Lifeboat Station, as they perform on the station apron throughout the summer months, raising much needed funds for the RNLI.
