Nestled in the heart of the historic market town of Midhurst, the Spread Eagle Hotel & Spa offers a charming blend of medieval character and modern luxury. The Twilight Spa Package is the perfect fit for those seeking a peaceful and indulgent evening escape. Whether you’ve finished a long walk on The Downs or a long day at work, the Twilight package may be just the weekday indulgence you are looking for to unwind.
The experience includes access to the spa facilities from 3pm. From the moment you are handed a pair of flip-flops and fluffy robe, the evening begins.

We started with use of the spa facilities, which included an indoor heated pool, sauna, steam room, and relaxation areas. The pool area feels airy, with a Scandinavian-style vaulted ceiling and a serene pool adorned with blue mosaic tiles and a golden eagle motif. The result is an intimate and tranquil atmosphere.
We were then escorted to our spa treatment rooms. With the Twilight Package, guests can choose between the ‘Express Power’ Facial or the ‘Media Drift Away’ Massage. I opted for the massage, which was perfect for unwinding after a busy day. My therapist, Chloe, ensured the massage was relaxing and professionally delivered. The massage can be tailored to your preferences, taking any injuries or areas of tension into account.
My guest opted for the facial and was impressed with the variety and quality of Templespa skincare products used. Their spa therapist Nann delivered a very relaxing facial, which they thought felt longer than the 30 minutes the treatment took. Following our treatments, we rested in ‘the Nest’, a wonderfully calm relaxation room.
Our evening culminated in a tasty two course dinner in the hotel’s restaurant, which lived up to its reputation for a warm ambience and high-quality cuisine.

In contrast to the modern spa, the restaurant celebrates the hotel’s rich history, dating back to 1430. With oak beams and inglenook fireplaces, the setting feels like a step back in time. Our meal started with a glass of Sussex sparkling wine, which added a celebratory touch to the evening.
Throughout the meal staff were friendly and attentive. They ensured food was served promptly and that everything was to our liking. The dinner menu is a curated selection of dishes, and is served from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Between us we enjoyed the sticky glazed pork cheek starter, roasted butternut squash main course and warm treacle tart for dessert.
As someone with a sweet tooth, the warm treacle tart was a particular highlight for me. The shortcrust pastry was crisp and buttery, with a rich golden syrup filling, hint of lemon, side of clotted cream and raspberries. It’s the kind of dessert that feels both indulgent and familiar – the perfect end to a midweek treat.
The Twilight Spa Package at the Spread Eagle Hotel & Spa is ideal for couples, friends, or solo visitors looking for a peaceful evening of pampering. The experience is a little luxury that does not take all day making it an ideal rejuvenating escape that fits into even the busiest of schedules.
With its blend of historic charm and contemporary wellness, The Spread Eagle Hotel & Spa it offers a rejuvenating escape in the heart of West Sussex.
