Students at Glebe Primary School are highlighting the plight of plastics in our ocean by creating a flower sculpture made entirely from plastic bottles.
Working alongside Jo Norman, Education and Communication Officer at Viridor, the inspiration for the sculpture came from sea anemones and how they looked similar to flowers.
Jo and teachers from the school helped the children turn over 200 plastic bottles collected from home into flowers for the sculpture.
Jo Cooper, art teacher at Glebe Primary School, said: “These children are the next generation, it is so important for them to learn now how to look after our world”
Sam Sygrave, student at Glebe Primary School, said: “I love the way the colours merge together and enjoyed changing the bottles into something beautiful.”
The sculpture is now on display at the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in Ford.
