Plumpton Ladies Day 2026 was originally due to take place in May, but was cancelled at the last minute following a confirmed case of equine flu at a livery adjacent to the racecourse. The decision was made in the best interests of horse welfare and the wider racing community, and now organisers are thrilled that Ladies Day will go on, after all.

After that disappointment , Plumpton Racecourse has announced that its much-loved flagship event has been rescheduled to Sunday 20 September and will now officially open the new National Hunt season in spectacular style.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the South Downs, Plumpton’s Ladies Day at the Season Opener promises a thrilling combination of top-quality racing, live entertainment, fashion, food and celebration.

A spectacular start to the season

Whether visitors come for the action on the track, the electric atmosphere or simply an excuse to dress up and enjoy a memorable day out, this raceday promises the full Plumpton experience.

The racing itself will kick off another exciting National Hunt campaign, with competitive racing at one of the most picturesque and intimate racecourses in England. But Ladies Day is about much more than racing alone.

From elegant dresses and statement hats to sharp tailoring and country chic, racegoers are encouraged to embrace the glamour of one of Plumpton’s most stylish occasions. Live music throughout the day will add to the festival atmosphere, ensuring the celebrations continue beyond the final race, with the after party.

Best dressed and family fun

The ever-popular Best Dressed Competitions for ladies, gents and children will once again take centre stage, with fantastic prizes on offer including a £500 voucher from Holland Cooper.

Families are also firmly part of the day, with plenty of entertainment away from the track including a rodeo bull, sweeper arm and garden games. Under 18s go free when accompanied by a paying adult, making it an ideal family day out as well as a hot date in the social occasion.

Food, drink and hospitality

Visitors will be able to enjoy a wide range of food and drink options throughout the racecourse. For those looking to elevate the experience, hospitality packages offer a relaxed and stylish way to enjoy the racing, with excellent views, dining options and a comfortable base for the day.

After party celebrations

The celebrations won’t end with the last race. Racegoers are invited to stay on for an after party featuring a live DJ set from Mint DJs, plus dancing and drinks to mark the start of another exciting season at Plumpton.

Guy Chadwell, CEO of Plumpton Racecourse, said:  “We were so very disappointed to lose Ladies Day in May, but the decision was absolutely the right one given the circumstances. We know how much this event means to our racegoers, so we’re delighted to bring it back as the official start of our new season.

“Ladies Day at Plumpton is about people coming together to enjoy a fantastic atmosphere, great entertainment and a memorable day out in a truly beautiful setting. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back in September.”
