Young People’s Shop is an independent Charity based in Chichester supporting 11–25-year-olds with their mental health. They provide a safe space to talk and to be heard through emotional support, counselling and wellbeing workshops. The charity are currently looking for Emotional Support Volunteers to join the team!
Do you have experience working with or supporting young people? Are you someone who wants to make a difference in young people’s lives by being there to listen when it can sometimes feel they have no one else to turn to?
As a YPS Emotional Support Volunteer, you’ll be there for young people and listen to them as they open up about whatever is worrying them, whether it’s bullying, self-harm, identity or family relationships – you’ll be there to support them.
Our Emotional Support Volunteers work an afternoon a week between 2.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. for up to 4 hours. We see young people here at the Shop in Chichester, mainly face-to-face, sometimes online, or by listening to them on the telephone. It is desirable to have a Level 2 Counselling Skills Qualification, or be committed to completing it within the first 3 months of volunteering with us. We provide regular training opportunities, and travel expenses are paid.
