Warmer Homes energy efficiency measures
Are you looking at ways to improve the energy efficiency of your home so you can reduce your energy bills?
Horsham District Council has been successful as part of a consortium of local authorities in securing funding from the Government’s Sustainable Warmth funding competition, to offer fully funded measures which will improve the energy efficiency of local eligible homes. These efficiencies will be delivered under a programme called Warmer Homes.
Funding under the Warmer Homes programme is available until March 2023, for the following energy efficiency measures:
- Insulation
- Solar PV panels
- Air source heat pumps
Funding availability and criteria
If your home uses gas, funding of up to £10,000 is available. If your home is off-gas, funding of up to £25,000 is available. Funding availability through the programme is subject to eligibility, technical feasibility and your home’s EPC rating.
You may qualify for the funding if you meet the following criteria:
Your home has an EPC rating of E, F or G (limited funding is available for EPC D rated properties) and either you have a total household annual income of £30,000 or less (before housing costs/bills) or you receive a means-tested benefit.
Council on the benefits of the Warmer Homes scheme
Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Community Matters Cllr Liz Kitchen commented:
“As the cost of living crisis hits and we depend more on our heating systems, the Winter Homes Grant scheme can offer vital improvements which could see many people across our District who are on a low income benefit from measures which could see them being warmer, reducing their bills, and decreasing their home’s impact on the environment.
“I would encourage as many local people as possible to check out if they are eligible and reap the benefits of this scheme Either go to the website or give us a call to see if you are eligible.”
The programme is available to owner occupiers and private rental tenants only. If you are a private rental tenant, your landlord will be required to make a financial contribution.
Funding is offered on a first-come, first-served basis and applications take no longer than five minutes. Apply online by visiting www.warmerhomes.org.uk/programme and click ‘apply now’ or call us on 0800 038 5737 (freephone).
