Deputy Mayor attends My Choice Children’s Homes Summer Fayre
The Haywards Heath Deputy Mayor, Cllr Duncan Pascoe had a brilliant time at the Summer Fayre organised by My Choice Children’s Homes, which raised £1,250 for The Fire Fighters Charity.
The event was hosted outside the Head Office at Mill Green Business Estate, with neighbouring businesses being very supportive, allowing stalls and activities to be set up across the site.
Deputy Mayor, Duncan Pascoe, comments: “I had a wonderful time meeting members of our community at a brilliantly organised Summer Fayre. Teri from My Choice Children’s Homes did a great job and I was particularly impressed to see that many of the stalls were being run by children from the homes.
“Terri spoke to me about how it is an important lesson for the children to be involved in charity work, giving them a feeling of responsibility and a fantastic opportunity to engage with the public, with which I wholeheartedly agree.”
A team from West Sussex Fire and Rescue were present with a team of fire fighters to demonstrate the equipment and talk about their experiences.
Duncan continued: “It was great to see our local firefighters at the event, they have an incredibly challenging job keeping us safe so I was pleased to see them being supported as the charity of choice for this event.
I also learned this is Terri’s final event before retirement and I would like to thank her and all those involved in organising this community event. I wish Terri all the best for her retirement and I hope that My Choice Children’s Homes continue to host charity events like this in Haywards Heath in the future.”
Terri Mead, Charity & Fundraising Co-ordinator, My Choice Children’s Homes added: “Thank you so much to Duncan for his appearance at our Charity Summer Fayre. It was wonderful to see the community coming together, everyone helped to stage a very successful day and we raised a lovely amount of money for The Fire Fighters Charity.”
