April 12th 2019 is an auspicious date. No, not because of all the Brexit palava but because three of the world’s most lauded and respected drummers will be hitting town. You can beat the Brexit blues at the Dome.
April 12th is the day three rock giants take to the stage at the Brighton Dome – the ‘DRUM LEGENDS’ – Ginger Baker, Pete York and Herman Rarebell from Cream, the Spencer Davis Group and The Scorpions respectively. But they won’t be alone.
Each drummer will be accompanied by his own band, a host of top notch musicians.
Bernie Marsden, a rock name to reckon with, is playing on the night with Ginger Baker. A stalwart of Whitesnake (and, of course his own band) he recorded with Ginger previously and has already played on some of the Jack Bruce Tributes.
Alec Dankworth and Abass Dodoo will also play with Ginger having been with him in the Jazz Confusion from the outset in 2012.
Pete York, now based in Germany, will be backed by his own long-time German band while Herman Rarebell’s band will also be flying in from there. Amongst its number will be guitarist James ‘Jam’ Moncur of Cage The Gods.
The show kicks off at 8pm and promises an epic showcase of fantastic playing and massive hits including White Room, Gimme Some Lovin’, Rock You Like A Hurricane, Passion Rules The Game andSunshine Of Your Love.
Tickets are on sale now priced £35, £45 and £55 from the Brighton Dome https://brightondome.org/ and all usual ticket outlets.
April 12th is a rare opportunity for drum lovers and music fans to watch, listen and learn from their drum heroes accompanied by some terrific musicians – a unique night indeed!
