Key landmarks of Ashington
The village is well known for its annual festival, which is more than just a simple village fete…
Festivities may include a procession, car boot sale, funfair, fireworks, dog show and a host of stalls, including locally-cooked food and drink aplenty. In 2012, for the first time, a stage was erected for entertainment and performances, cementing the festival as a force to be reckoned with in the Sussex area.
This lively festival attracts visitors from miles around to experience a wonderful day out. The first such festival was held here in 1997 and now forms one of the largest carnivals in the area.
Also in the beautiful village – all year round – is the Mill House Hotel. What was an elegant country house built in the 17th century has now been transformed into a six-bedroom hotel and restaurant. You can book the venue for private dining, weddings, parties and conferences.
The village also boasts a beautiful church dedicated to St Peter and St Paul, an art club, a cactus nursery and garden, and a weather station.
