Duncton is a small village situated about 3 miles south of Petworth. During the medieval period cloth making was a very important local industry. Florence Gertrude de Fonblanque, a British suffragist who led the women’s suffrage march from Edinburgh to London in 1912, died and was buried there.

Key landmarks of Duncton

The Cricketers is a pub thought to have 16th century origins. It was bought by Jem Broadbridge, Sussex cricketer, in 1867 when it was given the name ‘The Cricketers’ and leased to James ‘Jem’ Dean, another cricketer from Sussex.

The village has two beautiful churches, The Catholic Church of Saint Anthony and Saint George and Holy Trinity Church.

Duncton Mill Fishery has four lakes which usually stock rainbow, brown and tiger trout.

Duncton is just one of the places covered by the free Sussex Local magazine delivered by hand, by local people, every month.
