Skin care brand helps to raise funds and awareness of EDS

Horsham-based organic skin care brand, Green People, is best known for its green ethics and its green and eco skin care formulations, but this month the brand is sporting black and white stripes all in the name of charity.

A long-standing supporter of the connective tissue disorder charity Ehlers-Danlos Support UK (EDS UK), Green People already donates a proportion of their annual profits to this lifeline charity. As May is Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) Awareness Month, on Wednesday 24th May, 2023 the brand is helping to raise funds and awareness of EDS by donning zebra fancy-dress and completing a ‘Dazzle Walk’ around their hometown of Horsham.

The Dazzle Walk is an annual fundraising event organised by EDS UK and get its name because the Zebra is the charity’s symbol, and a dazzle is the name given to a collective of Zebra. Green People’s Dazzle Walk aims to raise £2,000 and as they walk, the team will be remembering Alexandra Kay, a much-missed team member, and the daughter of Green People founder, Charlotte Vøhtz.

Alexandra Kay was diagnosed with EDS in her early twenties after over 12 years of searching for an answer to her many symptoms ranging from chronic pain, fatigue, hyper-mobility and severe digestive issues. Alexandra sadly passed away last summer, aged just 28. Committed to helping others, before she died, she launched a wellbeing brand with Green People. The walk aims to honour her legacy by generating much-needed funds to help improve EDS diagnosis times and treatment options.

Charlotte Vøhtz created Green People in 1997. Speaking from her Horsham-based store she said: “My daughter was the inspiration behind Green People. She suffered from a chronic, debilitating condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and the Alexandra Kay wellness range that we formulated together helped her a lot. Sadly, my daughter passed away in June 2021 and in her memory Green People is committed to helping fulfil Alexandra’s legacy of helping others with EDS.”

It is Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) Awareness Month, and Green People are helping to raise funds for EDS by completing a ‘Dazzle Walk’ and dressing as a zebra in memory of Alexandra Kay, the inspiration for Green People and the daughter of Green People founder, Charlotte Vøhtz.
