Members of the Sussex Area of the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies (NAFAS) will create a spectacular array of displays for the Sense of Place Flower Festival 2020. The Festival will take place in Lancing College Chapel, the largest school chapel in the world, from 20 August until 23 August 2020.
Linda Porrett, the Festival Designer, has won a number of gold medals for her designs at
Chelsea Flower Show and World Shows and her imaginative designs for Lancing are set to be dramatic and colourful.
The Festival was last held at the Chapel in 2003, and proved to be a huge success with
visitors flocking to Lancing College to enjoy the displays. Next year’s Sense of Place Flower Festival will see the chapel filled with thousands of flowers, and with over 100 flower arrangers taking part, this unique occasion will indeed be a feast for the senses.
All net proceeds from the Sense of Place Flower Festival 2020 will go towards the Lancing Chapel Completion Campaign, a recently launched fundraising campaign to complete the West End of the Chapel. It is just over 40 years since the Chapel’s west wall and rose window were dedicated by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the presence of HRH The Prince of Wales. The final touch to this Gothic masterpiece will be an elegant three-arched porch for the west front which will provide shelter for new glazed doors at the entrance to this Grade 1 listed monument. Work on the project started this autumn and a service of dedication is planned in the summer of 2021.
The Festival will be open from 10.00am until 5.00pm each day with light refreshments available to purchase. Tickets are now on sale and can be booked here
