In 2019, Seaford Town Council passed a motion recognising climate emergency and committing to taking action, including a Climate Change Working Group.
The Council owns Seaford Head Golf Course and a lot of important work is taking place here, including:
- Maintenance that encourages a diversity of ecology and wildlife.
- Use of indigenous flowers and plants.
- Reduced use of pesticides.
- Creation of a bore hole which means that, in 2021, NONE of the water to irrigate our course comes from the mains.
Councillors recently passed a motion that offered relevant green spaces for community use. This will enable the community to use the sites, such as to deliver work to tackle climate change on site through rewilding, community meadows, community food growing etc.
In recent weeks, the council has also taken on a new concession that includes a bike repair facility, and signed up for ‘On Course’, environmental awareness in golf course management, and it is working with our community groups for the Seaford climate event on the 1st of August.
