Acts of Remembrance in Horsham 2021

Armistice Day

The Horsham Branch of the Royal British Legion, together with Horsham District Council, held a short wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial in the Carfax in Horsham on 11th November for those wishing to remember at the ‘eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month’.

Horsham District Council Chairman Cllr David Skipp led the wreath laying on behalf of the people of Horsham District with wreaths also being laid by Zäl Rustom, Chairman of the Horsham Branch of the Royal British Legion and Jeremy Quin MP.

The Revrend Canon Lisa Barnett addressed the audience and said prayers, and the ceremony was attended by World War 2 veteran 98 year old Geoffrey Weaving.

Remembrance Sunday

A respectful act of remembrance was marked this year at the War Memorial in Horsham’s Carfax on Sunday 14 November.

Cllr David Skipp led the wreath laying, in which wreaths were also laid by Cllr Karen Burgess for Jeremy Quin MP and by Cllr Andrew Baldwin on behalf of West Sussex County Council.

Horsham District Council’s Cllr Martin Boffey played at two Remembrance services; on Armistice Day and on Remembrance Sunday.
