On 25-27 May Bank Holiday, Brighton Marina will be hosting an incredible Extreme Weekend of high energy & adrenalin sporting displays with professional coaching.
Professional riders on BMX bikes, scooters, skateboards and rollerblades from Team Extreme ® will be performing on a large spine ramp erected in The Village in Brighton Marina, recently voted as the top location in the UK to take the perfect photo.
Throughout the weekend, five male riders and one female will be doing multiple performances throughout the day. In between each show, members of Team Extreme will meet and greet the spectators and provide free tuition and coaching for children and adults on the equipment of their choice.
Sophie Chandler, Marketing Manager of Savills Brighton Marina said,“With more and more urban sports such as Skateboarding being recognised as sports in the upcoming Summer Olympics next year in Tokyo, we are beyond excited to be hosting some of the UK’s best extreme riders here at Brighton Marina. This is also a really unique opportunity for visitors to try out these different sports whilst being coached by some of the best in the industry.”
Doug Peel, Manager of Team Extreme and MC on the day said, Team Extreme is unique in that we have a ‘Mix of Wheels’ with BMX, scoot riders, skateboarding and inline skating. We travel around the UK and our aim is to bring extreme sports to the eyes of the general public. Our event at Brighton Marina will be the first of the season and it will be the first time that the riders have seen each other since last year, so the atmosphere will be electric. The riders love coaching the kids who come to watch them so if any of them want to give it a go, we will kit them out in pads and helmets and we will work at the level of the individual so there is no pressure. Rollerbladers are welcome if they have their own skates.”
Danny Aldridge, 33, is Team Extreme’s most experienced show rider, European Spine Ramp Champion and one of the best inline skaters in the world. He has been with Team Extreme since he was 10 years of age after his mum took him along to an event. He tried out on the ramp and the team realised his potential and took him onboard. He has been riding with them ever since.
Danny, from Bognor Regis, lived in Brighton for three years and loves the city. He said, “I’m really looking forward to coming to Brighton Marina. Brighton to me is the home of the unique, the interesting and the arty and it’s about time Team Extreme got to show the city our way of life and how we express ourselves. My mission is to get the world on skates!”
The performances will run every day on Saturday 25th, Sunday 26thand Bank Holiday Monday between 10-4pm at The Village, Brighton Marina.
