Celebrating their 50th anniversary in Brighton

On Saturday 17th September, as part of Heritage Open Day, QueenSpark Books will be at the Regency Townhouse, Brunswick Square, from 11am-3.30pm. To celebrate their 50th anniversary, they will bring all of their 110+ books out of the archive, for visitors to handle and have a look-through.

Visitors can also see and buy their new book ‘Telling Tales of Brighton & Hove’. These are stories of protest, pubs, hardship, LGBTQ rights, cinema-going and clubbing, Black history, strikes, migration, and having a cup of tea and feature some of the people and places that have made Brighton & Hove what it is today.

They will also have a book stall with a selection of some of older titles at specially discounted prices.

Details of the event and QueenSpark books archive

People can view their new online archive that makes available the entire texts of all of the historic QueenSpark Books, which is free to read. The website (archive.queensparkbooks.org.uk) will go live on the 17th September.

There will also be a drinks reception to launch the book at the Townhouse from 4-6pm on that day. Space is limited for this event, so those who would like to attend should e-mail admin@queensparkbooks.org.uk to book a place. They will need to know by September 1st at the latest.
