Brighton Marathon and Chestnut Tree House partnership

Local children’s hospice, Chestnut Tree House, is the proud charity partner for the Mini Mile Races during this year’s Brighton Marathon weekend.

The charity event, taking place on Saturday 9th April, will give 7-17-year-olds the chance to experience the Brighton Marathon Weekend. It’s free to sign up to the Mini Mile Races, and participants will run a one-mile course with their peers to help raise funds for local children who need hospice care.

Andrew Battley, Events Fundraising Executive at Chestnut Tree House, says, “We’re really excited to be the charity partner of the Mini Mile Races at Brighton Marathon Weekend this year. The Brighton Marathon Weekend is a highlight for so many people in Brighton & Hove and further afield, and it’s an honour to be involved.

“Children’s hospice care is only possible thanks to our local community, and we’re extremely grateful to everyone for their generosity and support. We wish all the children taking part in the Mini Mile Races the best of luck!”

Speaking about their official charity partnership with Chestnut Tree House, Brighton Mini Mile said, “Chestnut Tree House have been one of Brighton Marathon Weekend’s largest local charity partners for several years now and it’s fantastic to welcome them back to the children’s races for 2022.

“Giving our Mini Milers the chance to support children in hospice care will be truly rewarding for them and relatable to many families taking part. We look forward to working alongside Chestnut Tree House to raise as much money as we can for such an important cause.”

Previous Mini Mile Racer and sign-up

Parents and carers can watch the event in Preston Park and support children taking part. Dave Chapman regularly runs for Chestnut Tree House at Brighton Marathon and speaks of his 10-year-old daughter’s enthusiasm to take part in the Mini Mile Races.

Dave says, “Last year Megan completed the Mini Mile for Chestnut Tree House and this year she’s really excited to do the same again. It’s great to see the children having fun whilst raising funds for a good cause with lots of laughter along the way.”
