New UK electric vehicle chargepoint scheme led by 7 Councils in West Sussex

EV charge points

West Sussex Chargepoint Scheme

A new electric vehicle chargepoint network is being set up across West Sussex.

Connected Kerb, West Sussex County Council, Adur and Worthing District Councils, Arun District Council, Crawley Borough Council, Horsham District Council, and Mid Sussex District Council have formed a partnership to provide the network.

The partners will be working together to install thousands of chargepoints across the county within the next 10 years, forming the new West Sussex Chargepoint Network which they hope will give West Sussex residents the confidence to go electric – in time for the ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles in 2030.

The partnership wants to deliver the charging points in locations that work best for residents, so they will be on streets and in council car parks. The partnership will also work with local community not for profit landowners to identify opportunities at community facilities across the county.

Residents Opinions

The Councils are asking to hear from residents to help them plan a network that works for the public, on things such as views of where the charging points should be located.

Though it isn’t guaranteed that every recommended chargepoint location will be installed, it will help the Councils map demand and plan for EV charging in West Sussex.
