Local MP sees progress at Bognor Regis Creative Digital Hub

Local MP Nick Gibb made a return visit to the Bognor Regis creative digital hub on Friday 22 June. The MP for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton was invited to the site at the town’s railway station by Louise Goldsmith, Leader of West Sussex County Council, to hear an update on progress and look at plans for the design of the building’s interior.

They were joined by designer Wayne Hemingway and Gareth Jones from the council’s appointed operator, Town Square Spaces.

The Bognor Regis creative digital hub is an initiative to transform two former waiting rooms at the Edwardian railway station, into shared flexible workspaces where emerging creative and digital businesses can thrive. It will provide a creative place where start-ups and freelancers can work side-by-side, share facilities, network with each other and have access to training and support. On completion the 360 square metre site will accommodate a membership of around 150 businesses at any one time.

The meeting on Friday brought together the main parties involved for a progress report to see the work so far completed on the two buildings.

Louise Goldsmith said: “It’s so important that the key people got together at this crucial stage in the project. I’m delighted that MP Nick Gibb came along and saw first-hand what progress we’re making. We had a really lively discussion about the positive impact the hub will have on Bognor Regis and the local economy, and it was fantastic to see the plans for the interior coming to life.”

MP Nick Gibb said, “I am hugely supportive of this project to transform some of the unused space in the station into a stylish business centre for young, up and coming entrepreneurs.

“The work already completed has improved the building with the space looking very different from when I first saw the derelict rooms in June last year.

“The hub will be a brilliant boost for Bognor Regis, giving small business and self-employed people a space to work together, hold meetings and bring together the business community in the area. I look forward to seeing it up and running!”

The hub is an initiative led by West Sussex County Council, being delivered in conjunction with Hemingway Design, Towns Square Spaces and Arun District Council. The project is due for completion later this year.
