Local Apprentice’s Confidence Grows with National Apprenticeship

Mairna Marzoug

Mairna Marzoug from Brighton has shown the success that can be achieved with a hands-on experience in a professional environment through an Apprenticeship programme, under the close mentorship of Qube Learning, which has since seen her become a regional finalist for the National Apprenticeship Awards.

Prior to joining Brighton and Hove City Council, Mairna enjoyed her time at college but was keen to gain valuable insight into a chosen career which only an Apprenticeship could offer. Shortly after an Apprentice workshop, hosted by the council, Mairna started looking for suitable programmes on the GOV.UK website and soon found a Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship role for which she applied, was accepted and started as a Transport Projects Apprentice at Brighton & Hove City Council.

Mairna was thrilled to be embarking on the new stage of her work life and studied hard to finish the business programme and has now completed a Level 4 Business & Professional Administration Apprenticeship. She engrossed herself from the word go and has seen herself overcome many hurdles to get where she is today. Mairna found balancing tasks challenging but by building strong relationships with her tutor and colleagues she was able to eliminate this struggle and ask for help when she needed it.

Throughout her journey, Mairna’s Qube Learning tutor has encouraged her to choose course units out of her comfort zone and Mairna believes this has supported the growth of her confidence in a personal and professional sphere.

Mairna says “Completing the Level 4 Business Administration Apprenticeship was testing at times, but my tutor always explained things in a straightforward manner which made the experience less daunting and encouraged me to stay driven. I have learnt so much from being in a work setting, it has allowed me to have a direct education into training and learning at the same time, and it is a route I am so pleased I took.

I am very proud of how far I have come and count becoming an Apprentice Ambassador for the Government’s Young Apprentice Ambassador Network and regional finalist in the Apprentice of the Year category, for the South East, as moments I will never forget. I can’t thank Qube Learning and Brighton & Hove City Council enough for their support, it really has been an interesting journey to get here and a dream come true!”.
