It’s World Alzheimer’s Day: Dementia services re-start face to face support at Sage House

This September, which happens to be World Alzheimer’s Month, Dementia Support is pleased to re-open limited face to face services at their local dementia hub, Sage House in Tangmere. Having been only able to offer remote services, the charity has developed COVID safe processes to enable them to welcome customers back into Sage House.

As Martha Pusey, Head of Sage House commented, “We have been following Government guidance closely and after completing our risk assessment have developed procedures to ensure all our customers visiting Sage House can access services in a safe manner. It just happens that we have re-started our Day Breaks service in September, which is World Alzheimer’s Month and we can’t think of a better way to mark this month and raise awareness of Alzheimer’s and dementia.”

Anyone who has a concern over memory loss or dementia can access support and advice from the charity, by calling their Wayfinder Service. Wayfinders at Sage House are here to talk to you. They understand the pressures of the caring role and the anxiety of living with dementia and can offer you emotional and practical support to get you through each day. To talk to someone, call Dementia Support on 01243 888691.

World Alzheimer’s Day

To mark the day on 21st September, the charity is also calling for people to get involved and fundraise for them. Every 3 minutes somebody will develop dementia and there are currently 5,500 people living with dementia in the local area, but currently, the charity can only reach 10%. Dementia Support has launched two new initiatives which people can choose to do to raise money to support the services at Sage House.

The Meet & Eat fundraiser asks people to MEET up with friends, family or work colleagues – virtually or socially distanced – and EAT. You choose how you meet and eat. You can hold a fancy dinner party, have cocktails or prosecco with canapes with friends, a simple picnic or barbecue with the children or have cake with work colleagues!
