Work starts soon to improve visibility at the Oathall Road/Oathall Avenue mini-roundabout junction in Haywards Heath.
The work includes moving a wall, hedge and fence and is scheduled to start week commencing April 3, subject to unknown factors, such as severe weather.
Bob Lanzer, County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Infrastructure, said: “This project was identified as being important by both the local county councillor and Haywards Heath Town Council.
“We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused by the work: every effort will be made to keep this to a minimum.
“Temporary three-way traffic signals will be maintained during construction, with manual control at peak times to reduce delays.”
The improvement work includes:
• The wall, hedge and fence on the north-eastern corner of the junction will be set back to improve visibility with Oathall Avenue. A telegraph pole will also be removed and overhead lines redistributed.
• Road markings at the mini-roundabout and on the immediate approaches will be adjusted and enhanced.
The scheme is being funded through developer contributions (known as section 106 contributions) of around £33,000.
Usual working hours will be 7.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. The scheme will take about a month to complete.
