Holbrook Animal Rescue housing abandoned animals
On the 30th July, Wire Fence donated a full day of profits to a West Sussex based charity called Holbrook Animal Rescue to celebrate International Day of Friendship.
Holbrook Animal Rescue is one of only two ‘kennel-free’ animal rescues in the UK, and is home to around 35 dogs at any time, as well as cats, goats, horses, and other unwanted or abandoned animals.
The rescue is run by Laura and Cliff Santini alongside a team of dedicated volunteers, and is experiencing the highest level of demand ever, due to the high rate of dog abandonment following the relaxations of covid restrictions.
Funds being used towards relocation and rebuilding
Located on the northern outskirts of Horsham, it is now being forced to relocate to make way for a major new housing development. Build has already commenced for the 2,700-home development to be named ‘Mowbray’, and the search for a new location is becoming more urgent.
Hayley Georgiou, Fundraising Volunteer for Holbrook Animal Rescue, commented on the donation: “We will be using your kind donation towards our moving fund. Unfortunately we are being forced off our current premises due to a 2,700 house development which edges nearer each day. This money will go towards our relocation and rebuilding costs.”
Supporting animals for International Day of Friendship
International Day of Friendship was launched by the United Nations with the purpose of celebrating the human connections between countries and nations, regardless of one’s nationality, race or religion. However, pet lovers can agree that friendships between humans aren’t the only ones that need to be praised.
Holbrook Animal Rescue believe that dogs, being one of the most loyal companions that men can have, deserve to be celebrated on this day.
Wire Fence is dedicated to helping those in need. They decided to support a different organisation each month by organising a fundraising event. Read more about this charitable initiative here: www.wirefence.co.uk/international-day-of-friendship-2022
