Hastings Fish brand launched at Seafood and Wine Festival

The Hastings Fish brand was launched at Hastings Borough Council’s Seafood and Wine festival in Hastings. The fish brand gives an opportunity to tell the world how great Hastings fish is! Those present, including representatives from the local fleet and the industry, heard CJ Jackson talk passionately about Hastings, its fleet and the fish landed.

Nick Hales, head chef and owner of Old Custom House spoke of the brand being “a stamp of approval for restaurant customers so they know the fish is sustainable, local, seasonal, and of a high quality.”  Nick sees the fish brand as a way to “get more people eating fish and being confident about creating their own dishes.”

Hastings fish has its own website and social media campaign – they can be found on Facebook and Instagram – detailing the types of catch, and showcasing local restaurants, fishmongers and wholesalers using and selling Hastings fish. The site also offers recipes and tips for using Hastings Fish.

There is also merchandise including window sticker and cool bags – one free for each customer purchasing Hastings fish from local fishmongers (subject to availability) and there are tea towels to purchase from the Tourist Information Centre, with profits going to the Hastings Fishermen Protection Society.
