Gatwick can never be Carbon Neutral whilst Gatwick flies on fossil fuel and increases the number of aircraft movements to 286,271 for 2017.
Ironically when communities have just defeated a very unwanted industrial incinerator in Horsham, Gatwick announce that they are ‘zero waste to landfill’ having built their own incinerator. This must only decline the air quality issues of Crawley further as with the air quality monitor breach for the 4th year according to the AQ report for 2017 due to road traffic at Gatwick.
CAGNE hopes that the new chairperson will be environmentally friendly, as currently GATCOM only has one environment body whilst it has three business groups on it as well as aviation interested parties, surely there are grounds for CPRE, Campaign to Protect Rural England to be sat on this Forum?
